Boating
Whatever type of craft you captain, boating is a great way to spend the day in Rome. Whether you enjoy a
float boat, speed boat, sailboat or canoe, there's plenty of room for everyone on Rome's four shimmering lakes:
Arrowhead, Camelot, Sherwood and Petenwell. |
Waterskiing
Waterskiing is a favored area pastime. Ski shows, hosted by the Shermalot Ski Team are held Wednesday and Saturday
evenings on Lake Arrowhead. The Shermalot Team also offers instruction to the public. Because your fun is always a top
priority in Rome, very liberal water skiing hours are allowed on all area lakes. |

Fishing
Experience excellent fishing in all area waters. Lakes Arrowhead, Camelot & Sherwood offer healthy populations of largemouth
bass, walleye, northern pike and panfish. Muskie, walleye, white bass & catfish (and just about everything else!) are found in
abundance on Lake Petenwell. Petenwell is a must for the serious angler . . . year around. Every spring the annual walleye run
and Nekoosa's Walleye Days attract fisherman from far and wide. Muskies are stalked throughout the summer and fall. In winter, ice fishing
enthusiasts (crazies?) flock to the hard-water in search of monster crappies, walleye and nothern pike. Numerous public and
private boat landings offer convenient access. What a great way to spend quality time with your family.
Rome's very own Earl Taylor (muskie hunter/local legend!) thinks the fishing is pretty good on Petenwell!
