While Lake Arrowhead may be full with recreational
amenities and located in the Town of Rome, which is
synonymous with outdoor recreation, the surrounding
area also offers opportunities that complement the
leisure lifestyle of Lake Arrowhead.
Adjacent to the western edge of Lake Arrowhead is Lake
Petenwell, Wisconsin's second largest inland lake.
Sport fishing for muskie, walleye, white bass, and
catfish on the 23,000 acre lake has never been better.
On the eastern shore of Petenwell rests Barnum Bay, a
New England style marina. At the marina, sailing is king.
Thirteen miles north of Lake Arrowhead is the tri-city
area of Wisconsin Rapids, Port Edwards and Nekoosa, all
picturesque communities built around the Wisconsin River.
Wisconsin Rapids is a stopping point for shopping, dining
and entertainment. Also located in the Rapids is
Riverview Hospital, which recently built a new
primary care clinic in the Town of Rome adjacent to Lake
Arrowhead.
Just forty miles south of Lake Arrowhead is one of the
hottest summer spots of the Midwest -- Wisconsin Dells.
At the Dells you and your family can play at the numerous
indoor and outdoor water parks, cruise along the shore of
Lake Delton on one of the famous "Ducks",
share many memorable hours at Storybook Gardens or
watch the popular Tommy Bartlett Water Ski Show.
Although hunting is not allowed on Lake Arrowhead property,
some of the finest Midwest deer hunting is found right
outside Lake Arrowhead's boundaries. Central Wisconsin has
one of the highest deer concentrations in the state and
thousands of acres of public hunting land for the pursuit
of not only deer but also waterfowl, grouse and wild
turkey.
All along the outskirts of Lake Arrowhead and even some
selected areas of Lake Arrowhead itself, are snowmobile
trails that network for miles and miles. You can explore
all day on trails that seem to never end. The Rome Snow
Bandits are the local snowmobile club.
The competitive ski hills of Skyline are sure to bring fun
and enjoyment to the amateur and skilled skiers alike.
Skyline is located in Adams-Friendship, just fifteen miles
from Lake Arrowhead.
